Jessica pulls together the numbers behind this site: published insurer rate data, NAPHIA's industry reporting, and consumer premium figures, and turns them into ranges a dog owner can actually plan a budget around. She covers consumer cost and insurance topics across several sites in the Encore Editorial network, and her background is in writing about personal finance, not underwriting policies or practicing veterinary medicine. Where a question needs a vet's exam or an insurance agent's read on plan wording rather than a website estimate, she says so directly instead of guessing.

Founder and Editor. Chris founded Dog Insurance Cost, one of several sites under the Encore Editorial umbrella, and he signs off on new guides against the rules laid out on our editorial standards page before anything publishes. Day to day, that means editing, pressure-testing the math behind the calculator, and stepping in personally on any reader correction that's more involved than a typo fix. Jessica does the writing; Chris makes sure it holds up.

One byline, on purpose

Every guide on this site carries Jessica Martinez's name because she is the one who dug into the pricing data and wrote it, full stop. There's no nameless in-house team behind her and no invented panel of reviewers standing in to make the site look bigger than it is. If a second writer ever contributes here, you'll see their own name attached to their own work, not absorbed into a group credit.
